Plans on Track for Shannon And Community to Come Together

You may have seen the news coverage of the comments made last week by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about our proposed acquisition of San Angelo Community Medical Center.

This feedback was expected and is a standard part of the process.  Shannon and Community are focused on undertaking this challenge to preserve and expand access to the healthcare services our region needs.

We believe San Angelo and the state of Texas best know how to deliver quality healthcare to our rural community, and we’re confident the state will review our application with that in mind. Our plans to join Shannon and San Angelo Community Medical Center remain on track and we’re encouraged by the progress we continue to make. We have received strong support from our community, and we are confident the COPA application we collaborated on and jointly submitted to the state clearly outlines the benefits this acquisition will provide to our community and region.

As a community-owned and led health system with an 85+ year history of serving West Texas, we are acting upon a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring the strength and expertise of our community’s hospitals to ensure our neighbors have the healthcare services they need for generations to come.

We have received many questions over the last week and wanted to share updated answers on our FAQ page. You may also submit your own questions here.
