Shannon is proud to have been a local leader in the COVID-19 vaccination process. Since December 2020, our team has worked tirelessly alongside community partners to ensure residents across the region had access to the vaccine. To date, we have distributed 72,817 doses to our neighbors, in collaboration with churches, non-profits and businesses, including:

  • Meals for the Elderly
  • Daily Bread Soup Kitchen
  • Grape Creek Food Pantry
  • Ministerial Alliance
  • Rust Street Ministries
  • Tom Green County Jail
  • Howard College
  • Reece Albert
  • Hirschfield Steel
  • Principle LED
  • TimeClock Plus
  • Glazer’s

We are honored to partner with these organizations, and more, across our community.

San Angelo Safe Kids Coalition

For more than 20 years, San Angelo Community Hospital led the San Angelo Safe Kids Coalition effort to provide caring staff, operational support and dedicated resources towards the safety of children in our community.

At Shannon, we believe children are the future. To illustrate this commitment, our team is proud to continue the partnership with Safe Kids Coalition following our acquisition of Community Hospital. On June 8, the coalition is hosting a Summer Safety event, including a free life jacket giveaway, in addition to holding programs on bicycle safety and other injury prevention in the coming months. We look forward to serving the region through Safe Kids Coalition’s important work.

Expansion of Ambulance Services

The acquisition of Community Hospital expanded Shannon’s services into in the south area of San Angelo. To support an easy transition between our new location and our Downtown campus, we have partnered with the parent company of our air transport services to officially launch our own Shannon private ambulance transfer service. Now, if a patient comes into our South campus in need of cardiac care, our team is able to transfer them Downtown more quickly. We will also be able to leverage this service for other transports patients may need, such as to nursing homes.

Thank you to Med-Trans for their commitment to supporting the health and safety of our community.

Shannon Sporting Clay Shoot

The 21st Annual Shannon Sporting Clay Shoot recently raised more than $100,000 to benefit several patient care programs at Shannon including regional EMS Support through Shannon AirMed 1, Oncology Angel Fund, Patient Benevolence Fund, Shannon Care Coordination program and the Nurse Education Fund. Through the continued support of so many local businesses and individuals, Shannon is able to benefit more than 175,000 lives in the Concho Valley. The raised funds will help diagnose, educate, provide equipment, and improve services and care within the hospital and in our community.
